The history of Local 1805

Local 1805 was created and became affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) on October 22, 1968.  When formed, Local 1805 represented 9 members of four separate departments, Fire District 3, Fire District 4, Fire District 5 and Fire District 6.  During the late seventies, three of the four departments bifurcated and Local 1805 was comprised of members from Fire District 3 and 6. During the year 2001, Fire District 3 bifurcated and Local 1805 became the exclusive bargaining unit of Fire District 6.  Currently, the Local represents 52 members, which included Firefighters, Firefighter/Paramedics, Captain's, and Battalion Chief.

Since its inception Local 1805’s primary mission, as is the mission of all union locals, has been to protect the safety of its membership while working to advance the standard of living for our fire fighters and their families.

The Local is governed by a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Political Action, Safety Officer and three Shop Stewards.  In addition, our Local takes an active part in the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (WSCFF) and the Central Labor Council (CLC).

We continually put the needs of our citizens at the top of our priority list.  Recently, our members of Local 1805 headed the effort to educate the community on the value of their local fire department and EMS personnel through a doorbelling campaign to pass an EMS Levy.  This essential service enables our Department to continually provide a level of care that our citizens rely on and require in our fast growing population.
